Habitat For Humanity adheres to all Fair Housing Laws and we build for families of all faiths. To help you decide if you qualify, take a look at the initial criteria we require and how our process works.
Initial criteria
- Have you lived in Whatcom County for at least a year?
- Are your current living conditions substandard, inadequate, or too expensive?
- Does your income fall between 25% and 50% of Whatcom County's median income?
- Are you willing to contribute 500 "sweat equity" hours
building your home?
- Do you have okay credit, with no liens that could attach to
the home or land?

Selection process
- All applicants need to attend a mandatory meeting held at the First Christian Church, or elsewhere in the community and county, where they can pick up an application. Contact our office for the dates and times.
- Please fill out the application and turn in at the office.
- Applicants are interviewed by the Family Selection Committee.
- Credit checks and employers references are reviewed.
- Families are notified by mail.
