Initial criteria

Have you lived in Whatcom County for at least a year?
Are your current living conditions substandard, inadequate, or too expensive?
Does your income fall between 25% and 50% of Whatcom County's median income?
Are you willing to contribute 500 "sweat equity" hours building your home?
Do you have okay credit, with no liens that could attach to the home or land?

For Median Income refer to the chart below which applies only to Whatcom County Washington.

Selection process

All applicants need to attend a mandatory meeting held at the First Christian Church, or elsewhere in the community and county, where they can pick up an application. Contact our office for the dates and times.
Please fill out the application and turn in at the office.
Applicants are interviewed by the Family Selection Committee.
Credit checks and employers references are reviewed.
Families are notified by mail.
